Austrian Juniper Support Spindle, 29g Hand Turned Spindle for Fine Yarn

€ 69,00

A rare support spindle with a story rooted in the heart of Austria.

This one-of-a-kind support spindle was hand turned from beautifully aromatic juniper wood sourced from a private garden in the city center of Linz, Upper Austria.

What makes this spindle special is not only its performance, but also its traceable origin. The journey from locally sourced juniper trunk to finished spinning tool has been carefully documented, preserving the connection between the original tree, the craftsman and the final owner.

Every spindle is individually crafted in my small workshop near Linz, where regional woods are transformed into functional pieces designed to last for years.

Weighing approximately 29 g (1.02 oz) and measuring approximately 30 cm (11.8 in), this spindle is ideally suited for supported spinning and the creation of fine, consistent yarns.

The long, carefully balanced shaft offers excellent control during drafting, while the hand-turned body promotes a smooth and stable rotation.

Dark decorative accent rings provide a subtle visual contrast to the warm juniper wood and create a distinctive Austrian Timber Bowl design element.

Every surface has been carefully sanded and finished by hand to preserve the natural feel and character of the wood.

The unmistakable scent of juniper

One of the most remarkable characteristics of this spindle is its natural aroma.

Juniper wood carries a pleasant woody and resinous fragrance that often becomes more noticeable while spinning as the wood is gently warmed by the hand.

No artificial fragrances or treatments have been added. The scent is simply part of the natural character of the original tree.

From the trunk to your hands

The juniper trunk came from a privately owned garden in the center of Linz, Austria. I personally processed the timber, selected the section and turned the spindle in my small workshop in Upper Austria.

The listing photographs document this journey:

• Locally sourced juniper timber

• Preparation of the spindle blanks

• The spindle during hand turning

In a world where many handmade tools begin as anonymous commercial blanks, this spindle offers something increasingly rare:
