Hand-turned from carefully selected maple wood, this support spindle is designed for smooth, stable rotation and an enjoyable spinning experience. Its elegant shape and balanced design make it especially suitable for spinning fine and medium-weight yarns from wool, alpaca, silk, and other natural fibres.

Unlike mass-produced spinning tools, every spindle is individually matched to its included spinning bowl. Each set is carefully tested and adjusted in my workshop to achieve smooth, stable, and reliable rotation.

For this reason, the spindle and bowl are offered exclusively as a matched set and are not sold separately.

The matching pear wood spinning bowl complements the spindle perfectly, creating a complete supported spinning system that is both functional and beautiful.

ABOUT THE MAKER

Welcome to Austrian Timber Bowl.

I am Gerold, a woodturner from Upper Austria. In my small workshop near Linz, I create each piece by hand from carefully selected regional woods. From the raw timber to the final finish, every step is completed personally by me.

For me, spinning tools are more than functional objects. They are companions for quiet moments, creativity, and the connection between hands, fibre, and natural wood. My goal is not simply to create beautiful tools, but to craft pieces that become part of each spinner's personal journey.

My workshop is small enough to stay personal, authentic enough to build trust, and passionate enough to create meaningful connections. I believe handcrafted tools should not only work beautifully but also tell a story and create lasting memories.
