Lightweight Pear Wood Supported Spindle
A slender, lightweight supported spindle, individually hand turned from pear wood in my small workshop in Upper Austria.
At only 14 g, this spindle combines a delicate profile with the warm, understated character of pear wood. Three dark decorative rings create a subtle contrast and have become part of the distinctive design language of my Austrian Timber Bowl spindles.
Every spindle is shaped, sanded and finished by me personally. The piece shown in the photographs is the exact spindle you will receive.
Details
Wood: Pear Wood / Birnenholz
Weight: 14 g / approximately 0.49 oz
Length: approximately 23.5 cm / 9.25 in
Type: Supported Spindle
Design: Three dark accent rings
Craft: Individually hand turned
Origin: Upper Austria, Austria
Quantity: One unique spindle
Made for the Quiet Art of Spinning
Its low weight and slender form make this spindle an interesting choice for fine fibers and delicate spinning work.
The restrained grain of pear wood gives the piece a calm, elegant appearance. Rather than covering the natural character of the material, I shape each spindle around what the individual piece of wood gives me.
No two pieces are exactly alike.
From My Workshop in Upper Austria
Welcome to Austrian Timber Bowl.
I am Gerold, a woodturner from Upper Austria. In my small workshop near Linz, I create each piece by hand from carefully selected regional woods.
From the raw timber to the final finish, every step is completed by me personally.
No mass production. Just authentic craftsmanship, natural materials, and unique wooden pieces made to last.
For me, a spindle is more than a spinning tool. It is a small connection between the material, the person who shaped it and the person who will eventually use it.
You Will Receive
✓ The exact pear wood supported spindle shown in the photographs
✓ Austrian Timber Bowl product/certificate card
✓ Carefully prepared packaging
✓ A genuine one-of-a-kind piece handmade in Austria
Natural variations in grain and color are characteristics of real wood and part of what makes each spindle unique.
